Local comedians Bob Biggerstaff and Mike MacRae, who got their start at Houstons Laff Stop, can now add As Seen on TV to their resumes. Biggerstaff was featured on Dave Attells recent HBO special Captain Miserable in a closing sketch. His best material is born out of his dry wit and love for watching but not playing sports. In one bit the, um, slightly portly (sorry, Bob) funny man talks about being introduced for a gig in St. Louis as from Houston during the Astros fight for the Series. The audience booed him and shouted Astros Suck! Take it easy, folks, Biggerstaff said. I dont know if you know this, but I dont play for the Astros. I know I look like an athlete, but

MacRae, who recently moved to Austin, appeared on The Tonight Show with David Letterman over the summer as part of Impressionist Week. He killed with spot-on imitations of actors such as Harrison Ford, Sean Connery and Ozzy Osbourne. But MacRae isnt just a silly voice guy. We gave him Best Comedian in 2002 for his ability to craft those voices into humorous interactions. One bit, in which he imagines being in a student in a class taught by Professor Indiana Jones, features the voices of both Ford and Connery.
