“Star Wars”

Luke Skywalker and company land their starfighter at NASA

Science fiction meets science fact at “Star Wars,” a collection of props from the movies, on display at Space Center Houston. Residents of Houston and Tatooine alike can get a glimpse of famous artifacts including Luke Skywalker’s Jedi costume, the actual lightsaber wielded by Mark Hamill in Return of the Jedi and a 21-foot long X-wing starfighter. That last artifact is particularly out of this world, as it was flown aboard the space shuttle Discovery last month on its trip to the International Space Center. (Hopefully, the astronauts used this weapon for good, and not just to slice open their Tang juice boxes.)

Along with the artifacts, there will be plenty of costumed characters (have you hugged a Wookie today?), free screenings of the Star Wars movies, and an interactive show with trivia games and prizes. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Through January 7, 2008. 1601 NASA Parkway. For tickets and information, call 281-244-2100 or visit www.spacecenter.org. $14.95 to $18.95.
Nov. 28-Jan. 7, 2007
