Eve of Christmas Eve Party

‘Twas the night before the night before Christmas and there was plenty to entertain, including a band based on “pain.”

The day before Christmas Eve is like the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The family obligations haven’t begun and there isn’t much to celebrate yet except not having to go to work the next day — so you might as well drink. Warehouse Live’s second annual Eve of Christmas Eve Party offers the opportunity to do that and more. The event features the Machos, a pure rock group that, on its MySpace page, says that it sounds like “pain,” that its only influence is “pain” and that “you will feel” this pain’s “power and succumb to it…and it is good, for pain is weakness leaving the body.” Well, doesn’t that sound like yuletide fun? Oh, and there’ll be special holiday cocktails (a good bartender can do a thousand and one wicked things with eggnog), plus, proceeds to go Toys for Tots, so it won’t be mere holly-jolly self-indulgence. 8 p.m. 813 St. Emanuel Street. For tickets and information, call 713-225-5483 or www.warehouselive.com. $15.
Sun., Dec. 23, 8 p.m., 2007
