One of the few good things about Dallas is its music scene, but unfortunately, it’s in Dallas. Lucky for us, The Proletariat’s weekly dance installment, Rock Box, is letting Dallas dance night The Party take over for the evening, so we can check out some of the city’s finer musical offerings sans devil, fire and brimstone. (Read: Dallas = Hell. Have we made that clear yet?) Much like DJ Witnes and Dayta’s -Thursday-night Rock Box, Party DJs Sober and Select keep a steady rotation of hipsters, punk rockers, goths and all other brands of see-and-be-seen’ers at their monthly party up north, spinning a wide variety of hip-hop, dance, post-punk, soul, etc. (The Party is so good, in fact, our northern counterpart the Dallas Observer gave the traveling event Best Dance Club, instead of awarding it to an actual club.) See how they do it in D-town, and don’t be surprised if you go home with a reason to visit at 9 p.m. 903 Richmond. For information, call 713-523-1199 or visit www.theproletariat-houston.com. Free.
