The Civil Rights Movement makes mighty fodder for musical theater in Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushners Caroline, or Change, a groundbreaking show thats been hailed by critics across the nation. The story follows Caroline, a maid in a Jewish household in 1960s Louisiana. Caroline finds herself at the center of great cultural upheaval as she tries to maintain her ordered life, make ends meet for her family and come to terms with the end of segregation. But the story isnt all seriousness theatrical magic happens when the washer and dryer and even the moon become part of the cast in this show, which is getting its Houston premiere at Main Street Theater.
