“Hidden Children in Occupied Greece”

Anne Frank is the best known of the hundreds of Jewish children that were hidden across Europe during the Holocaust; thanks to “Hidden Children in Occupied Greece,” a traveling exhibition from that country’s Jewish Museum, we can now learn about the experiences of other youths like her. The exhibit, presented at the Jewish Community Center’s art gallery, uses photographs, toys and other artifacts to tell the personal stories of 16 children who were hidden during the Nazi-led occupation of the country in World War II. Thanks largely to the kindness of friends, each survived the period’s atrocities — narrowly avoiding the fate of the 86 percent of Greek Jews who died at the hands of the Nazis.

The exhibit is already on view, but there’s a special opening reception at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday that features a lecture by former Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis.
