“Visual Voice: The Poster Art of Finn Nygaard”

The Museum of Printing History turns over all three of its galleries to the Danish artist

It’s rare that an illustrated advertisement will draw and hold your attention with all the force of museum-worthy art, but the posters and prints created by the Danish artist Finn Nygaard certainly give the lowly poster’s reputation a boost. To celebrate the exhibit “Visual Voice: The Poster Art of Finn Nygaard,” the Museum of Printing History is devoting each of its three galleries to his work — the first time they’ve given their entire space to an individual artist. One gallery features a collection of his jazz posters — lively, vibrant promotional works that do the music justice — while the other two galleries will contain smaller works demonstrating the 51-year-old artist’s range. You can meet Nygaard at the opening reception at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 24. Regular viewing hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays. Through April 10. 1324 West Clay.
