Love’s Last Shift

Support the arts and spend absolutely no money! The opening show of Houston’s brand new Classical Theatre Company is not only funny, it’s free. The group, which is devoted to plays “at least 100 years old,” according to Artistic Director John Johnston, is opening with Colley Cibber’s Love’s Last Shift. The sexy, silly farce from the 1690s tells the story of a lowdown dirty husband who leaves his wife for better lands. Ten years later, after the bastard thinks his wife has died, he returns. Thing is, the old lady’s still alive. Even better, she’s inherited lots of dough, and she wants her man back (love is a crazy thing).
