Last Comic Standing Auditions and Showcase
NBCs comedy reality show hunts Houston for humor
Published on February 21, 2008
Pack up your puns, one-liners and whats-the-deal-withs for the Last Comic Standing Auditions and Showcase. The NBC reality show, which turns a sense of humor into a contest, will make its only stop in Texas at the Improv today. This means local funny guys and gals will have to match wits with out-of-towners from Austin, Dallas, San Antonio and other surrounding areas. So if youre interested, make sure to bring your strongest two minutes of material and some extra patience for waiting in line.
Those who impress the celebrity judges (Neil Flynn of Scrubs and Alfonso Ribeiro of Fresh Prince) will be featured in a post-audition showcase this evening at the Improv. Last Comic Standing host Bill Bellamy will be in town to head up the event, where you can check out some of the freshest local talent around. And who knows? You might catch a future contestant and be able to say, I saw them before they had their craft validated by reality television. Auditions start at 9 a.m. (but we recommend getting there as early as possible). Showcase starts at 8 p.m. 7620 Katy Freeway. For information on Last Comic Standing auditions, visit www.nbc.com/lastcomicstanding. Free. For showcase tickets and information, call 713333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $25.
