Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenaged Blockhead

The Peanuts kids grow into naughty teens in this new show from Unhinged Productions

Imagine the Peanuts characters all grown and turned into a gang of foul-mouthed, angst-ridden teenagers, and you’ll get the basic idea of Bert V. Royal’s Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenaged Blockhead, the latest offering from Unhinged Productions. CB, the central character of this spoof, is emotionally crushed when his dog dies of rabies. The play follows CB’s search for identity in a world that would let his beloved friend die. The characters might have different names, but anyone familiar with the comic strip will recognize Lucy, who’s mostly offstage, as she’s been institutionalized for arson. Peppermint Patty and Marcie are now alcoholic cheerleaders. Pigpen is a homophobe. They’re all as foul-mouthed as most teens are. They’re funny, though, and this story about a boy’s search for himself has a sad twist. This is definitely not a family-friendly spoof, but grownups will enjoy learning what happened to the gang. 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Through March 22. Silver House Theatre, 1107 Chartres.
