Everything’s cool

Global warming never seemed so funny

One of the main problems facing activists who hope to get the public to take action against global warming is that the message often comes across as preachy — thanks in part to a certain former vice president. Is it possible to find humor in the lesson? That’s the mission of the folks behind the documentary film Everything’s Cool, which appeared at Sundance in 2007 and will screen tonight at Aurora Picture Show. A tale of political censorship, human ignorance and yes, polar bears floating away to their doom on broken ice, the film manages to find some laughs as it follows a number of activists, including a climatologist, a writer, and a snow groomer, as they try to get people to come to terms with the problem. To further their point, organizers will give eco-centered gift bags to those who arrive at the show via alternative transit (we’re gonna guess that’s gonna be right around zero). 800 Aurora Street.
