Tracy Daugherty and Lisa Lewis

Tracy Daugherty knows Houston is worth it. The author graduated from the University of Houston’s Creative Writing graduate program and has kept our city in his literary focus. In 2003, he published Axeman’s Jazz, a novel that explores the history of the city’s racial politics through the story of a bi-racial woman who returns to the Bayou City to retrace her parents’ lives. In the non-fiction realm, Daugherty is working on a biography about Donald Barthelme, a historic local who got around. Barthelme worked for the now-defunct Houston Post, served as director for the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and co-founded UH’s Creative Writing department.

Daugherty will be reading some of his latest short stories as part of the final installment of Inprint’s Studio Series.
