Guys who excel at putting around will take part in the Shell Houston Open, the city’s PGA-affiliated golf tournament. Once again, this year, the Open will serve as the lead-in tournament for the Masters, and Aussie Adam Scott will defend his title against competition including Stuart Appleby, KJ Choi, Padraig Harrington and Ernie Els. Proceeds from ticket sales go to a number of Houston charities, and not just the Society for Polyester Preservation. The players set their own hours during today’s public practice play, so you’ll have to take your chances as to who you’ll see. Through April 6. Redstone Golf Club, 5860 Wilson Road.
