Beethovens Seventh SymphonyKwame Ryan makes his Houston Symphony debut with one of Mr. Bs most famous worksBy Olivia Flores AlvarezPublished on April 02, 2008 at 1:43amViennese audiences were a glum group during Napoleons occupation in the early 1800s. To cheer things up a bit, Beethoven wrote his Symphony No. 7. It worked. Audiences loved the energetic, happy music, and it went on to become one of his most famous works ever. Today Kwame Ryan, in his Houston Symphony debut, tackles Symphony No. 7 and Pärts Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten. The program also includes Ravels Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with guest pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet (who really has two hands, just in case you were wondering). 8 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For tickets and information, call 7132247575 or visit www.houstonsymphony.org. $26 to $103.
