Bookworms will want to be early birds for the Houston Indie Book Festival. With all the deals from local and national journals, independent presses and bookstores, you’ll want to make sure you get there before the good pickings are gone. Kaboom, Brazos Bookstore, Arte Público Press, Inprint, Houston Institute for Culture and more will be emptying their shelves at low prices.

The event will also feature readings by local authors, and there are rumors of Persepolis author Marjane Satrapi stopping by before her reading at the Hobby (and by “rumors” we mean a flyer that said “possible appearance”). 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Domy, 1709 Westheimer. For information, call 713-523-3669 or visit www.domystore.com. Free.
