Documentary follows the transformation of historical Houston neighborhood

As lofts and townhomes continue to take over historical areas in Houston, it’s bittersweet to see how things started out and, sadly, how they barely still are. In the documentary This Is Our Home, It Is Not for Sale, director Jon Schwartz chronicles the construction and deconstruction of Houston’s Riverside neighborhood. The film follows the cycle of settling, upheaval and resettling in the area as both white and black residents struggle to keep their culture and history alive. The transformation of Riverside over the past 60 years is shown through photographs, home videos, news clippings, interviews and more, and set to the music of H-town’s own late jazzman Arnett Cobb.
