The consensus of the literary establishment is that Robert Hass is, quite simply, the greatest poet alive. Whether you agree or disagree, odds are youll be at once charmed and disarmed by the former U.S. Poet Laureates verse, which hell recite and discuss today as part of the Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series. In addition to his Poet Laureate title, Hass was also a MacArthur Foundation genius grant recipient and is a noted environmentalist and literacy advocate. Hasss poetry is sometimes compared to Impressionist painting at once accessible to those with minimal formal training and study, but layered enough that top academics have a mountain of material to pore over. 7:30 p.m. April 21.
