Robert Hass

The U.S. Poet Laureate closes out Inprint’s Reading Series for the year

The consensus of the literary establishment is that Robert Hass is, quite simply, the greatest poet alive. Whether you agree or disagree, odds are you’ll be at once charmed and disarmed by the former U.S. Poet Laureate’s verse, which he’ll recite and discuss today as part of the Inprint Margarett Root Brown Reading Series. In addition to his Poet Laureate title, Hass was also a MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant recipient and is a noted environmentalist and literacy advocate. Hass’s poetry is sometimes compared to Impressionist painting — at once accessible to those with minimal formal training and study, but layered enough that top academics have a mountain of material to pore over. 7:30 p.m. April 21. Alley Theatre, 615 Texas. For information, call 713-521-2026 or visit www.inprinthouston.org. $5.
Mon., April 21, 7:30 p.m., 2008
