Wanda Sykes

The stand-up comedian weighs in on the Clinton/Obama race

Comedian Wanda Sykes has a lot to say about the upcoming presidential election. “I’m torn — Hillary, Obama. Woman, black. I’m a black woman so I’m torn,” she says. “I had to say what has caused me the most problems — no equal pay, no pay. Rape, slavery. Get hit on by men, get hit on by policemen. See, I’m torn.”

Sykes says she’s supporting Obama, but she admits there is a downside to his winning the election. “I’m worried, because if [Obama] wins, black people are going to have to come up with another excuse. You can’t blame the man when you are the man.” 8 and 10:30 p.m. today and tomorrow. Houston Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For tickets and information, call 713–333–8800 or visit www.improv2.com. $30.
Fri., April 18, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., April 19, 8 & 10:30 p.m., 2008
