Best of Dallas Video Festival

The coolest thing about our northern neighbors may be on video

The Best of Dallas Video Festival includes a wide mix of genres. Ranging from experimental film to documentaries to animation, the collection highlights the top films of the festival’s 20th year. Lewis Khlar’s animated Pony Glass is a portrait of Superman’s best friend, Jimmy Olsen, who must deal with a sexual identity crisis. Delusions of Modern Primitivism is Daniel Loflin’s documentary about one man’s pursuit of personal, wearable art in the form of tattoos, piercings and (we’re not kidding) bullet holes. Matt McCormick portrays graffiti cleanup (or buffing) as an art form equal to the one it erases in The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal, and Daniel DeLoach uses video to visually explore the poetry of Olga Lavrova in Tryptych. 8 p.m. Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. Aurora Picture Show, 800 Aurora. For information, call 713-868-2101 or visit www.aurorapictureshow.org. $6.
Sat., May 17, 8 p.m.; Sun., May 18, 3 p.m., 2008
