More About

Christopher Rose mixes the songs you love with the songs you'd never admit to liking. The man behind Austin's Car Stereo (Wars) is one of those DJs who have you too busy shakin' dat ass to care about the musical blasphemy spinning on the ones and twos. Take "Hey Hey Stick Stickley" for example: A bit of Tone Loc's "Wild Thing" introduces the lyrics to Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" set to — get ready for it — Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit," before going on to quote Technotronic's "Move This," Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," Yo Gotti's "Full-Time" and more before fading out with the theme to the vintage Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. To certain music aficionados, it's just flat wrong, but his sweaty hipster fans don't care. This and his other marathons of pop-music dos and don'ts help kick off the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston's Mixed Media series, which also features pop rockers Voxtrot and the return of Houston's Mathletes.
