Writing Workshop Series

Meet and work with six of Houston’s most talented spoken-word artists

If the first thing you think about when you wake up is writing, and the last thing you think about before you go to bed is writing, and in between all you think about is writing — guess what? You’re a thinker. Writers write. They put pen to paper.

You can move from being a thinker to a writer at the Writing Workshop Series. Sponsored by Nuestra Palabra, Latino Writers Having Their Say, the workshop includes brainstorming sessions, readings and, oh yeah, actual writing. Six of Houston’s most talented spoken word artists/authors, including Gwendolyn Zepeda (author of Growing Up with Tamales) and Jerome Washington (author of Paint Me the Color of Peace), will lead the sessions. 1 to 3 p.m. Sundays. Through June 29. Brazilian Arts Foundation, 1133 E. 11th Street. For information, call 713–867–8943 or visit www.nuestrapalabra.org. Free.
Sundays, 1-3 p.m. Starts: June 1. Continues through June 29, 2008
