Eddie Izzard

Dressed (Differently) to Kill

Eddie Izzard isn’t cross-dressing these days. (Hence the name of his latest tour: Stripped.) The legendary transvestite comedian has decided to drop the ladies’ clothing and most of the makeup for his current trek around the U.S. Arguably one of the best in the business, the two-time Emmy Award winner approaches comedy with a Monty Python style that mixes politics, social history and everyday matters with plenty of quirk. Izzard’s stream-of-consciousness, unscripted delivery has him jumping from the Spanish Inquisition to what squirrels think about when they’re eating nuts. Recent reviews for this tour say he uses his iPhone to discuss Wikipedia articles as he reads them onstage. (And by “recent reviews” we mean “his Wikipedia entry.”) 8 p.m. today and tomorrow. Jones Hall, 615 Louisiana. For information, call 713-227-4772 or visit www.spahouston.org. $32 to $67.
Tue., June 10, 8 p.m.; Wed., June 11, 8 p.m., 2008
