Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland: It’s amazing that countries with such gray weather could come up with something as colorful and joy-infused as polka (maybe it’s all the beer). Whatever the reason, polka is a musical force to be reckoned with, and it will be on display today at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Polka Party, a celebration of South Texas’s Central European heritage. Several Dancers CORE performance company will offer quick, ebullient polka-meets-contemporary-dance moves, joined by the eight-piece polka band the Texas Dutchmen and local dancers from the Polka Lovers Klub of America. Those who come a half-hour early can get free dance lessons, which should prove helpful when the night morphs into one big polka party under the stars. 8 p.m. 100 Concert Drive, Hermann Park.
