Galveston Arts Center, which organizes the event, is holding an opening reception today for a new exhibit of photographs of the Gulf Coast taken in the 1980s by chemical engineer John C. Dyes; the center will also be showing works by painter Kelli Scott Kelley which whimsically comment on mans treatment of animals. Other exhibits include Gaedge Erikssens satirical political commentary at Allure Gallery, as well as handmade jewelry and music by Genese Tilts at Leslie Gallery. Altogether, there are some 40 sites where you can listen to music, grab a bite to eat or shop for art.
