Michael WinslowA noise man turns up the funny and heads back to stand-upBy Dusti RhodesPublished on July 23, 2008 at 1:41amMichael Winslow is the coolest thing about most B comedies in the 80s. You know him as the actor who made all the sweet noises in Spaceballs and the Police Academy series. (He also did the voices for the mogwai and gremlins in the Gremlins series.) Recently, Winslow began easing back into popular culture. He had a spot on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in May, sounded out the auto woes of a real customer in a Geico commercial and released a DVD. Winslows act is still driven by his noisemaking abilities, which span beatboxing, channel surfing, kung fu sounds and a Jimi Hendrix experience he impersonates the guitar. (The last one alone is worth the price of a ticket.) 8 p.m. Thursday; 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For tickets and information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $20.
