In the Middle of the Ocean

Melusine Theatre Company presents a rowdy rock and roll retelling of Orpheus

Written by Chris Alonzo, the rock musical In the Middle of the Ocean is a retelling of Orpheus. The story centers around Camila, a sweet and beautiful girl who gets her heart broken, runs away, and decides to form a floating brothel in the middle of the ocean. (Yeah, that’s always a good idea.) She gets involved with “a well-hung ghost,” mm-hmm, and follows him in to Hell, searching for her true love. Somewhere along the way, pirates, clowns and punks all get into the act. (Hey, it’s theater, anything can happen.) 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Through September 6. DiverseWorks, 1117 East Freeway. For information, call 800-838-2006 or visit www.myspace.com/inthemiddleoftheoceanmusical. $15.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 21. Continues through Sept. 6, 2008
