Johnny Cash Returns: The Living Tribute

Dan Whyms brings the Man in Black back to the stage

Dan Whyms knows how to walk (very close to) the line. The actor/musician is nationally renowned for his portrayal of the Man in Black in Johnny Cash Returns: The Living Tribute. The musical revue features Whyms and the Rock Island Band — which now includes Cash’s piano man Earl Poole Ball — thundering through hits “Folsom Prison Blues,” “I Walk the Line,” “Big River” and “Highway Man.” Whyms has managed to win over Cash’s fans — his 2006 run in Galveston sold out — and in light of the show’s latest addition, a tribute to June Carter Cash (featuring up-and--coming country star Lori Freda), there is definite possibility of a repeat reaction. 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Moody Gardens Hotel and Convention Center, Seven Hope Boulevard. For tickets and information, call 800-547-4697 or visit www.galvestonmusicals.com. $25 to $35.
Aug. 27-31, 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 28-31, 2:30 p.m., 2008
