Big Bad Voodoo Daddy joins the Houston Symphony for some jump and jive

You might remember that odd period in the mid-’90s when 15-year-old guys started wearing sport coats to school and decorating their bedrooms with neon signs and cocktail shakers. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the forerunners of that decade’s swing revival (along with cohort Brian Setzer), were largely to blame. Their music and image already immortalized in the movie Swingers, the California-based group has lately been joining symphonies across the United States, performing hits “Jump, Jive and Wail” and “Go Daddy-O.” Today they join Michael Krajewski and the Houston Symphony for Swing!, a pops concert that should appeal to young folk who like going retro as well as those who boogied to swing the first time around.
