KUHF Classic Film Concerts: Nosferatu

The Golden Arm Trio gives this early horror classic a new soundtrack

What could make a classic silent horror movie more horrifying? A killer soundtrack. The KUHF Classic Film Concert series will hand the baton over to Austin's Golden Arm Trio for its screening of Nosferatu. The influential 1921 film by German director F.W. Murnau was adapted from Bram Stoker's Dracula. Since then, Nosferatu has become a cult classic for its terrifying and timeless take on the world-renowned vampire novel.

Fans of the KUHF series might recognize one face from the Golden Arm Trio, a John Zorn-inspired jazz group featuring a rotating cast of Texas musicians. Graham Reynolds lent his talents to last month's presentation of Metropolis as part of the Golden Hornet Project. The music man is the only permanent member of the trio. Reynolds and company have rescored a number of other films, including A Scanner Darkly, Phantom of the Opera and Hunchback of Notre Dame. Judging from past efforts, this one is sure to be equal parts kooky and spooky. 7:30 p.m. Discovery Green, Anheuser-Busch Stage, 1500 McKinney.
