Frost/Nixon

Katie vs. Sarah ain't nothing - see this smash London play for the real debate

For those of you obsessively checking the Web for new interviews with Katie Couric and deer-in-the-headlights/vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Broadway Across America has the show for you: Frost/Nixon. In 2006, Peter Morgan (who wrote The Last King of Scotland and The Other Boleyn Girl) shook up London and then Broadway with his play about a series of interviews David Frost did with Richard Nixon in 1977. In the traveling show, Stacy Keach appears as Nixon, and Alan Cox plays Frost.

The only president in American history to quit the office in disgrace, Nixon agreed to the interviews thinking he would exonerate himself with the American public. For his part, Frost put his career on the line, hoping he'd get Tricky Dick to confess (he did manage to get Nixon to apologize to the American people). The trial-by-interview script garnered Morgan and the production several Tony Award nominations. And though the film version (directed by Ron Howard) is slated for release in December of this year, nothing beats live theater. Watch the verbal tap-dancing in Frost/Nixon at 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sundays. Through November 2. The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby. For information, call 713-629-3700 or visit www.broadwayacrossamerica.com/houston. Tickets start at $50.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 & 7:30 p.m. Starts: Oct. 21. Continues through Nov. 2, 2008
