Grandmas were into stitching and patching before it was cool. All you young knitsters keep that in mind at the International Quilt Festival. As you peruse the offerings of more than 1,000 vendors, marvel at the designs of more than 2,000 quilts and other fabric creations, and check out the classes, lectures and textile-friendly exhibits, remember to say "thank you" to your fabric foremothers. There's an exhibit preview today from 7 to 10 p.m., with regular exhibit hours 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas. For information, call 713-781-6864 or visit www.quilts.com. $8 to $35.
