The Phantom of the OperaThe man of 1,000 faces meets the Golden Art TrioBy BLAKE WHITAKERPublished on November 12, 2008 at 1:46amKUHF will complement the nippy November weather with a few manmade chills when it presents an outdoor screening of Rupert Julians The Phantom of the Opera. The phantom in the 1925 silent classic is played by the inimitable Lon Chaney, who apparently tapped into the most twisted of his 1,000 faces aided by some truly horrific self-applied makeup for the role. The beautiful young singer Christine the object of the Phantoms twisted love is played by Mary Philbin. As iconic as the film is, the evenings biggest draw will be the original score provided live by Golden Arm Trio, an Austin-based rotating cast of musicians led by composer Graham Reynolds. Seeing one of the 20th centurys most unsettling characters unmasked to freshly composed live music just might make your weekend. 7:30 p.m. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney.
