Network is a hilarious glimpse at how whorish the communication industry can be. (Yeah, thats right, we said it). The 1976 film which won several Academy Awards stars Peter Finch as Howard Beale, a shouldve-been-fired anchor whose insane antics, such as threatening, on-air, to kill himself, win his network higher ratings and win him his job back and his own show. Things get complicated when he sleeps with a producer (played by Faye Dunaway) who also has dreams of success. The film is as much a comment on the medias insatiable hunger for ratings as it is the source of the hunger: human greed. Talk about a good scoop
