Houston’s getting Kinky again. The writer/politician/musician/activist/straight-talkin’-Texan Kinky Friedman is back in town to sign copies of 2008’s What Would Kinky Do?: How to Unscrew a Screwed-Up World. In addition to talking about politics, he’ll be discussing animals in need; besides his book, he’ll be pushing copies of the 2009 Utopia Animal Rescue Calendar, whose sales benefit his dog shelter in the Texas Hill Country. Kinky will put his John Hancock on either or both — the perfect doggone gift for any animal lover or political animal lover. Friedman starts signing at 5 p.m. Murder by the Book, 2342 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-524-8597 or visit www.murderbooks.com. Free.
