Houston filmmaker Van Blumreich presents his latest narrative short films, Imprintand Fury, at today’s First Thursdays at Dean’s. Neither of the works is cheerful, but both are engrossing: Imprintfeatures a man who, ill with a mysterious virus and unable to pay for health care, becomes a hit man trading someone else’s death for his own life. Furyis about two high school students, best friends. After accidentally killing a homeless man one night, the two respond in very different ways. One tries to put it out of his mind, while the other can’t stop thinking about it. Blumreich will also screen his first music videos and discuss his work and career so far. 8 p.m. 316 Main.
