Jake Johannsen is a David Letterman darling. The comedian is one of the most frequent stand-up guests on The Late Show, chalking up more than 35 appearances. He’s also joked around on almost every other late-night talk show and had a few HBO specials. With an accessible style, Johannsen pokes fun at topics such as pushy vegetarians, succumbing to the forbidden fruits of Starbucks, airplane safety instructions and that ointment veterinarians give you to stop your dog from licking his sores. “It’s supposed to taste bad to the dog…who’s already licking his butt,” he says. “What could that possibly taste like? Worse than ass-flavor? Worse than dog ass-flavor?” 8 p.m. today, 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway. For tickets and information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improvhouston.com. $15 to $17.
