Scrooge

Dickens gets a nice score in this ‘70s musical movie

Don’t let the lush score fool you — the made-for-the-big-screen holiday musical Scroogeis still a ghostly tale of woe and warnings. The ‘70s film adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol stars the young Albert Finney in his Golden Globe-winning performance as everyone’s favorite holiday humbug. This multiple-Academy Award--nominated film includes song, dance and an extra scene involving the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. The movie strays from the original telling when the third spirit sends ol’ Ebenezer straight to hell, where he discovers he’ll become Lucifer’s own personal clerk if he doesn’t change his miserly ways. You don’t often see the scene on TV, but we’re pretty sure the purists behind Monday Night Movies at Domy will leave in the damned moment. 8:30 p.m. 1709 Westheimer.
