Kids can see nature up close at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center’s Cool Critters camps, where students age five to 12 will learn about forest animals and the survival skills they’ll use to get through the winter. Students spend most of the day outside in the Arboretum’s 150-plus-acre woods doing real-life learning. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. December 29 to 31. 4501 Woodway Drive.
