Just because a poet’s dead, doesn’t mean her rhymes are, especially not at today’s Dead Poet’s Slam. Each volunteer reader will perform two poems from a dead poet, performing with as much passion and drama as possible. The audience will rate each performance, and the most slammin’ reader gets a prize. (Not to mention bragging rights.) 8 p.m. Taft Street Coffee House, 2115 Taft.
