Jamie Kennedy

A warning to hecklers: This guy’s waiting for you

It isn’t a straight line from Romeo and Juliet to Scream World 4, but comedian/actor Jamie Kennedy seems to have found his way just the same. Satires like Malibu’s Most Wanted(Kennedy as the clueless B-Rad, a white rapper with no talent and a serious case of jungle fever) and commercial comedies (Son of the Mask, the sequel to the Jim Carrey flick), as well as well as offbeat television shows (Mad TV and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment) have earned Kennedy a broad audience.

But despite all his onscreen success, the scruffy Kennedy is most comfortable onstage doing stand-up. Filled with weird characters and funny voices, Kennedy’s observational humor takes swipes at everything from race relations to infomercials to homophobia (the latter is only fitting, since Kennedy reports that early on in his career, he was booed off stage in a West Hollywood gay bar for not being pretty enough). Oh, and all you hecklers out there might want to take a break at Kennedy’s show — he’s waiting for you with an arsenal of insults and jokes (at your expense). 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Improv, 7620 Katy Freeway, suite 431. For information, call 713-333-8800 or visit www.improv.com. $22.
Dec. 26-27, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sun., Dec. 28, 7:30 p.m., 2008
