3rd Annual MLK Youth Parade

Web exclusive!

The official holiday isn’t until Monday, but you can get a head start on celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during today’s 3rd Annual MLK Youth Paradewith floats, marching bands and all the usual spectacles. Local rap artist Trae is this year’s Co-Grand Marshal, and arts education advocate Fernell Hogan is one of the parade’s honorees. At just an hour and a half long, the Youth Parade might be a bit more appropriate for squirming little kids with short attention spans (Monday’s MLK Grande Parade is three hours long). Noon. Things start off at Jackson and Texas. For information and route information, call 713-953-1633 or visit www.mlkgrandeparade.org. Free.
