The 84th Annual East-West Shrine Game

Web exclusive!

The top NCAA college football players are coming together for the 84th Annual East-West Shrine Game. There are plenty of Texas players on the West team, including Texas Christian University’s Jason Phillips, Texas Tech’s Darcel McBath and Texas A&M’s Michael Bennett. They’ll be going up against University of Central Arkansas’s Nathan Brown and the United States Naval Academy’s Eric Kettani. Gene Stallings coaches the West Team, while Bobby Ross helms the East Team (early in his career, Ross spent a little time on the coaching staff of Rice University). Monies from today’s game benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children, making for a great mix of philanthropy and gridiron glory. 3 p.m. kickoff. Robertson Stadium, University of Houston, 4800 Calhoun. For information, call 713-462-6647 or visit www.shrinegame.com. $15 to $50.

Sat., Jan. 17, 3 p.m., 2009
