Is graphic design more about graphics or design? What part does typography play? And what about branding? Get some answers during today’s Transparency: Exposing Graphic Design lecture at Rice Design Alliance. Steven Heller, the co-founder of the MFAH Designer as Author program at the School of Visual Arts, presents his ideas about the new role content plays in design. Over the next few weeks, Andy Altman, Ellen Lupton and others will discuss the complex blending of experience, aesthetics, information and identity that make up today’s graphic design. 7 p.m. Brown Auditorium, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. For information, call 713-348-4876 or visit rda.rice.edu. $7 to $35.
