Leave Your Genre at the Door

Who doesn't love a good buffet? Or a good sequel? This second installment of Leave Your Genre at the Door — the stylistic hodgepodge of local acts that audaciously aims to expose them to audiences beyond their own micro-scenes — certainly sounds more Dark Knight than Caddy­shack II. Reason alone to fork over ten bucks (for seven performers, mind you) is the reunion of local reggae/R&B groovers Heptic Skeptic, whose singer Kam Franklin organized this whole shebang. The ubiquitous Franklin, a woman of many voices (all of them sublime), will most likely also sit in with gregarious rapper Fat Tony and — for all we know — alt-country harmonizers News on the March. Also de-­genrefying will be Satin Hooks' serrated rock grind, Nosaprise's grown-folks hip-hop, ex-Basses Loaded thumper Ben Wesley's new project Sad Gorilla and feisty femme-cee Perseph 1. LYGATD's debut last August was a sold-out smash, so get there early. — Chris Gray
