A blond bombshell might not be your typical lawyer, but then again Elle Woods, the pink-loving princess at the center of Legally Blonde the Musical, isn’t typical. Proving that beauty and brains really do go together, the powder-puff sorority girl follows her ex to Harvard Law School, and once she’s there, decides to get serious about the law (well, as serious as anyone who says “omigod” in every sentence can get). You remember Reese Witherspoon in the 2001 film as the giggly smarty-pants Elle. Now we get to see the character sing and dance, while upping the sass factor a few notches.

The bubblegum musical, chock-full of showstopping numbers like “Omigod You Guys” and “What You Want,” comes to Houston with two stars alternating the lead role: Laura Bell Bundy, the young woman who originated the role on Broadway, and Lauren Zakrin, a -runner-up on the MTV reality show Legally Blonde the Musical Search for Elle Woods. 8 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturdays, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sundays. Through February 22. Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby. For information, call 713-558-8887 or visit www.tuts.com. $32 to $90.

Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 & 7:30 p.m. Starts: Feb. 10. Continues through Feb. 22, 2009
