Aperio, Music of the Americas blends works by American poets and composers
The poetry of Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson flows with style, grace and more than a tinge of melancholy, but can you put a beat to it? Thats the question that the performing group Aperio, Music of the Americas hopes to answer in its reading/concert Marked Passage: Poetry by Emily Dickinson and Sylvia Plath.The organization which presents rarely staged chamber music by contemporary composers will perform selections from Americans Aaron Copland, Ned Rorem and Vincent Persichetti. The ensemble includes soprano Tracy Rhodus, clarinetist Christian Schubert and pianist Michael Zuraw, with Elizabeth Gregory reading. 3 p.m. Sicardi Gallery, 2246 Richmond.
