Junkyard Drive-In: Texas Oil on FilmAurora Picture Show re-creates watching movies from your carBy D. L. GrooverPublished on February 25, 2009 at 1:43amWatch a movie the way your grandparents did from your car. At the screening of Junkyard Drive-In: Texas Oil on Film, Aurora Picture Show gives viewers a flashback to yesteryear when movie screens were outside and the audience was basically sitting in a parking lot (lots of those cars had foggy windows, which made watching the film difficult but was a lot of fun). Presented in conjunction with the Center for Land Use Interpretation, Junkyard Drive-In includes a lineup of films about oil, shown on the site of a former auto junkyard (read into that anything you like). Bring your own food or buy on-site from the mobile taco stand, listen to the soundtrack over your car radio and watch some classic petrochemical industrial/educational promos, shorts and even a contemporary compilation of Hollywood clips about the Lone Star States beloved cash cow. Its up to you to fog up the windows. 6 to 8 p.m. 723 North Drennan Street. For information, call 713-868-2101 or visit www.aurorapictureshow.org. Free.
