All the incredible singing, music and theatrics of New York’s Metropolitan Opera are closer than you think. Grammy-winning conductor Patrick Summers, who has served as musical director for the Houston Grand Opera since 1998, leads the famed New York Met in a performance of Puccini’s classic Madama Butterfly. Chilean soprano Cristina Gallardo-Domâs, who has become world-renowned for her portrayal of the delicate Butterfly, will once again reprise the role for this performance. The spectacle, a rebroadcast of a live concert earlier this month, will be shown in high-definition digital projection in movie theaters across the country today. 7 p.m. Various theaters, including the Edwards Marq*E, 7620 Katy Freeway. For a complete list of screening sites and information, visit www.metoperafamily.org. $16 to $24.
