Texas-born author Stephanie Elizondo Griest hasn’t had a normal life for a while now. Since 1997, she’s been living out of a backpack, hopping from one country to another, writing about her adventures. She’s released Around the Bloc: My Life in Moscow, Beijing and Havana and 100 Places Every Woman Should Go, but during today’s An Evening with Stephanie Elizondo Griest event, she’ll be reading from her latest title — Mexican Enough: My Life Between the Borderlines. Part memoir, part political journal, Mexican Enough chronicles the biracial Griest’s journey from Nuevo Laredo to Chiapas, meeting Oaxacan rebels, narcos, gay activists, Border Patrol agents, thieves and migrant workers along the way. Griest finds that after visiting 30 countries around the world, she feels most like an outsider in her ancestral homeland. 7 p.m. Houston Public Library, Central, 500 McKinney.
