The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s film division continues its centenary homage to director David Lean with the 1953 movie Hobson’s Choice. Set in 1890s England, Choiceis the story of a bootmaker (Charles Laughton in an excellent performance) who wants to pick out a suitable husband for his daughter. (Sure, that’s going to happen.) Instead, the young woman marries her father’s shop assistant and the couple starts a boot shop of their own to rival his.
